Description
Rhiannon, Celtic Goddess of Inspiration and the Moon.
Translated, her name meant "Divine Queen" of the faeries.
Forsaking her divinity for the love of a mortal, she endured many hardships in the company of men.
She embodies grace, strength, integrity, perseverance, compassion and forgiveness. All of the most noble virtues reside in her.
Blessed be her name.
This work was a long time in coming. I just noticed that I first created this file back on Aug. 9th, 2003. It was only worked on between other projects though. In fits and spurts, over these last two and a half years. Hard to believe it's been so long...
It began at too low a resolution. When I resampled it at a higher res, the interpolation caused the most amazing and fortuitous glow around her and in the shadows. I may try for the effect again in the future. Also, this piece began with only a mouse as input. I acquired my tablet about half way through. (And there was much rejoicing!) I learned a lot with this project. The figure has had no less than 5 heads, and many 'adjustments.' Overall, I think that the final product is compelling.
